" Per Svensson proofs it in his 'El/Element 1', two pieces from 1987, wich were released in 1989 as a cassette
on Firework Records, but now luckily enough find their way to a CD. This too is quite noise related even when
Svensson refers to this as 'electroacoustic music, an action, and a shaman ride' in 'El' with bangs on metal
percussion in a large space. A bit like work from Sons of God, Phauss and Hafler trio from the same area.
In 'Element 1', the stronger piece of the two, he works with primordial elements: earth, air, fire, metal, and
things are loud for sure, but the various elements work to eachother like an iron welding factory in dark,
mechanical manner, like a self-contained machine beast coming alive. The Svensson CD is no doubt the best
of the new trio"

"There is a pristine sensibility attached to the sonic events featured on this release. It may be the kinetics of
heavy industry which are evoked by these events, but there is very little that is strictly mechanical about them.
Or should I say: there are soulful mechanics at work here. On the one hand these recordings evoke heavily
industrial reverberations of massive (electro)acoustic and electrostatic events... On the other hand, there is
also sensuality (both in the philosophical and the more common sense) and vitality attached to these events.
This polarity could in fact be one of the defining ingredientts of so called 'industrial music' a genre to which
these works certainly relate. An ongoing source of electrostatic energy - perhaps linked, alike a pacemaker,
to the heartthrob which soon becomes audible - and a mechanical regular heartbeat, contrasted by a flurry of
irregular external events taking place ..."

¨Live In LA is one of the latest releases on Swedish sound artist Leif Elggren's Firework Edition label,
a recording from 1999 where he shared a tabletop with fellow musicians CM von Hausswolff and Per Svensson.
The single 54 minute track evolves from the expected engine room rumble and electronic splutter to a more
transcendental vibe that leviates the piece considerably. During one section, the electronic hum slowly softens
to produce an acoustic sounding tambura drone with hypnotic waves of astral looping lapping at the edges.
Rather than tinker at their laptops in deep seclusion, there is a genuine feeling of communication here that
pulls you in to the trio's action. Svensson's solo release for the label is equally involving and somewhat more
dramatic. In what he describes as 'a document of electroacoustic music, an action and a shaman ride', he
utilises electrical and primordial sounds to build a towering inferno of low rumbling industrialised sound structures¨
